The Compass Real-Time API allows customers to stream raw connected vehicle data and integrate it into their own models and projects. Data is uploaded to the API every few seconds as soon as it is received by the providers. Customers have the option to filter the data by a particular location, a particular set of vehicle_ids or a set of vehicle_ids within a given location. If no filters are applied, the user receives all the data that they are authorized to receive.

Customers are provided a predetermined polygon bound or area and a fleet of authorised VINs that they can access data for and ingest into their own data lake. The type of data that can be streamed from the API includes but is not limited to:

• latitude and longitude
• Timestamp
• Vehicle Type
• VIN
• Trip ID
• Acceleration
• Charge Status

Unlike Compass’ Road Intelligence suite products, the Real-Time API does not use our front-end UI. Instead, customers can ingest data into their data pipelines or applications directly. The data is not manipulated in any way, shape, or form to allow customers the flexibility to build their own custom analytics to suit specific projects.

The Real-Time API is used for projects where real-time data monitoring is core to the success of a project. Examples of these projects may include:

• Projects that require travel time, reduction in speeds, and g-force for real-time safety
• Projects that analyse signalised intersection data such as queue length, free-flowing traffic conditions, and queue times
• Traffic modelling or simulation for unplanned disruptions and network delays
